I welcome you to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. We offer programs in humanities and social sciences that are vital in understanding the complexities of human society.
We are ready to stir your intellectual curiosity and help shape the next generation of ethical professionals. We offer market driven programs at the diploma and undergraduate level. The programs blend theoretical foundations with practical experiences. We offer an array of postgraduate programs. We take pride in nurturing the academic leaders of tomorrow through our master’s and doctoral programs.
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Murang’a University of Technology is committed to providing quality education, research and training in humanities and social sciences disciplines. It equips students with the knowledge, skills and critical perspectives needed to understand and respond to the changing social, cultural and professional environment.
The School offers academic programmes in Linguistics and Communication Studies, Journalism and Digital Media, Criminology and Security Studies, Public Administration, Development Studies, Literature, Kiswahili, History, Geography, and Religious Education.
The School has various facilities that support experiential learning. They include the television studio, radio studio and editing lab for communication programs. We also have an interrogation lab and crime scene lab for criminology and security studies programs.
Since its establishment, the School has experienced significant growth in academic programmes, student enrolment, staffing, postgraduate training, research productivity, and institutional partnerships. The number of academic programmes increased from nine in 2024 to 16 in 2026.

At the heart of the School’s media training is a state-of-the-art TV Studio, equipped with production equipment that supports television training, creative content development and hands-on production. The facility provides students with an environment to develop practical skills in areas such as television presentation, camera operation, production and programme development.
